Anne Guess is a Cum Laude graduate of the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. Anne studied privately with Alan Dornak - Counter-tenor, the late Debria Brown - Mezzo Dramatique, Patryk Wroblewski - Baritone, Dr. Sharon Radionoff - Mezzo Soprano and Vocal Pathologist, and Jane Becker - Soprano and Vocal Pathologist.
Anne is in her eleventh year of teaching public school and has over fifteen years of private teaching experience. Anne is currently a Middle School Choir director and manages her own private voice studio. She spends her time focusing on the demands of the changing voice at the Middle and High school levels. Private students typically range in age from 7th grade to 12th grade, though she has been known to teach students both younger and older.
Anne has enjoyed many successes as a Choir Director, including repeated Superior Ratings at UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest, Blinn Choral Festival, Katy Choral Festival, Cy-Fair Solo & Ensemble Contest, and Katy Solo & Ensemble Contest. Anne’s private studio also boasts many accolades and accomplishments including Superior and Excellent ratings at Solo & Ensemble Contest and Junior High & High School Region Honor Choir. Many of Anne's students are cast in musical theater productions, and her students have been honored with leading roles in: Godspell, Dames at Sea, Zombie Prom, Guys and Dolls, Annie, Alice in Wonderland, and Into the Woods.
During college, Anne gained experience in teaching Kinder Music as a faculty member of a private music studio in the Houston Metro Area. Kinder Music is a curriculum based tool used to expose those young children in pre-schools and private schools to basic music concepts that one might see in a public school music classroom. In addition to her experience as a Music Educator, Anne has several years of experience as a Stage Manager. She stage managed several shows during her time at the Moores Opera Center at the University of Houston, and Anne completed one season as a stage management fellow with the Houston Grand Opera.
Anne is an active adjudicator and clinician in Texas, and she also enjoys a limited performing schedule. Most recently, she played Maria in Joey and Maria's Comedy Italian Wedding. She occasionally performs as a soloist for weddings and other events. Anne performs regularly as a soloist at her church.
When not working, Anne enjoys her time with her amazing husband, and fellow music educator, Bobby and their two beautiful children.
