Weaponizing Education and More

  • I’m tired of society and politicians weaponizing the love we have for our students. I was treated like trash during my pregnancy all the while trying to provide the best education I could to my students during covid. All to be on leave with zero pay. We’re constantly asked to do it for the kids, well this time I’m doing it for mine. There’s no way I’m going back to work in a petri dish and risk the health of my now 3-month-old baby. I submitted my resignation last week.
  • I am ready to leave for two reasons. The first reason is the lack of support and discipline from the administration. Children are being rewarded for bad behavior, and consequences have no weight to them. Students have no reason to change their behavior. The second reason is the paperwork, meetings and documentation that keeps being added that is taken from teaching time or home life. My students and family do not get enough of my time, but my computer and data sheets do. This is not why I became a teacher.
  • Micromanagement, lack of respect, too much demands on our time with no support, inability to support myself any longer on the pay.
  • Lack of creative control, overemphasis on testing and data, the demands of the job are literally impossible to complete during contract hours, lack of appreciation and respect, top-heavy administrative demands and paperwork, and now… student behavior is out of control.
  • As an Early Childhood teacher Pre-K to 2nd I became discouraged with administrators asking me to teach curriculums that were not appropriate for this age. My administrators had no teaching experience with the young child. As teachers these administrators taught HS & Middle School Spanish, 5th Grade Science and a one was a school nurse. When I voiced my concerns about asking to teach an inappropriate curriculum for the young child my concerns were dismissed & I was called a trouble maker.
